MONDO Presents “The Comic Art of Francesco Francavilla”

In Austin, Texas on August 26, Mondo introduced their newest gallery – “The Comic Art of Francesco Francavilla,” running from August 26th through September 10th at 4115 Guadalupe St.

Presenting the comic book covers alongside the screen printed renditions was enjoyable and helped contextualize the backbone of Francavilla’s work. Many Mondo fans are probably used to his posters, so seeing his art in another medium was a wonderful insight.

Mondo Gallery is excited to announce its next show celebrating the pulpy brilliance of Francesco Francavilla, New York Times best-selling author, comic book creator, and artist. The solo show will feature all new posters of select comic book covers from iconic publishers including Marvel, DC and Archie Comics. The opening reception, free and open to the public, will be held on Friday, August 26th from 7:00 – 10:00pm at the Mondo Gallery in Austin, TX.

“We’re huge admirers of both the stunning quality and unique breadth of work Francesco Francavilla has contributed to the world of comic books throughout his career. Walk down the aisle of any comic shop and you’re sure to notice his artwork adorning several covers, whether it be titles from the big two, Marvel and DC, or Archie, or Dark Horse, or Dynamite, or even his creator-owned The Black Beetle. From his striking and bold colors to an affinity for all things pulp, noir and adventure, Francesco stands in a league of his own and we’re proud to present The Comic Art of Francesco Francavilla,” said Eric Garza, Mondo’s Head of Creative Production.

“I’ve been itching to put together a solo gallery show for some time now and I couldn’t be happier to see it happening with my dear friends at the Mondo Gallery! I’m celebrating my 10-year anniversary in comics and this might just be the frosting on that cake! Thanks again, Mondo, for making this happen,” said Francesco Francavilla.

All the artwork is below. Check back with Cinapse for Mondo’s next gallery show – each time we’ll show you the posters right when the gallery opens!
